Well it has been some time since I finished this the course, I thank everyone for my prize of an I- pod!!! Great surprise.

Since completing the course I have found the main thing I am using the most is the Flickr and Red Bubble sites, I really enjoy these sites.

Have attempted a Google Doc also a Zoho Doc, how will I know if they have got to you?? You will probably get multiples of them though!!
Found Zoho much easier to use, particularly for including an image.
Could see this being of use.

Skipping the Google Doc till next time. Actually not really sure exactly what type of document we have to send??

Tried to download the Second Life but this computer wouldn't do it ??? Was sort of interested to see what this is about.

As far as applications of all the things we have learnt over the past 12weeks for our Library, I really don't know. I am still rather stunned by it all & would need to discuss this with my Branch Manager, however she hasn't done much of the Course so that would be difficult. Our Library is a Branch so I guess we would be guided by our Main Regional Office. If they felt there was a need for any of the applications I am sure they would implement them. At least I could go ahead & do it!!!

Thank you again to all, its been great. Looking forward to MORE!!!

Re-visiting del.icio.us, totally forgot my original account details (didn't write them down at the time, guess I was too excited looking at what was there!!!

Well I think I have managed to get a podcast on here, as a page element, not sure if that is where it should be???
Ok got to listen to the podcast info...very interested in this as I often miss shows, on ABC in particular, so this would enable me to catch up with them. Actually getting them on here is proving very difficult!! More learning needed!!

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Can't get to view podcasts info as yet, no speakers connected to this computer. Have been reviewing past weeks & attempting some things I had trouble with at the time. Managed to get the RSS feed to the Powerhouse Museum Photo of the day which I was unable to do at the time. Main thing I seem to have gained with this course is the ability to 'keep on trying it out' & not to be 'scared' of it all!!! As I progress with it it does get easier. Great way of learning - I commend everyone who organised this course & hope to see many more of these type of courses available to us all in the Library Service.

Trying out a Mashup.
I do like these!!
This is of our lovely towns Main Street

Back from holidays & finally caught up with all my work after being away. Have explored Answer Boards Library Wiki & found it interesting. As to whether I would use it?? Can't see our Library having a need for it.

Yee HAA!! It worked, after much Brain-Strain & "middle of the night" thinking I attempted the widget again and success!! The 'peaks & troughs' of this techno ride is amazing!!

I am having trouble with my Flickr photos, they keep dissappearing from where I put them on Picture Australia Our Town. This is the second time it has happened. One day they were there then next thing gone, very irritating as I gave the site address to family members to check out??? Also should be in Technorati site under nswpln2008 tags??? WHY???
I go on holidays next week so have just skimmed through the rest of the course, when I return (refreshed & rejuvenated!!) I will try again. I have enjoyed participating & am overwhelmed at the incredible "things" you can do. I have found it a little frustratingly difficult at times to do some of the tasks. Interruptions being the main problem as I do not have a computer at home and feel 15 mins is too short a time to allocate to it. Also found myself getting lost checking out all the different things. Loved reading other participents blogs on how they were coping with the course and very impressed with some of the blogs designs and their ability to do all the tasks. I feel that at least I'll know what a customer is referring to if I am asked any questions regarding the different applications. Thank you to the staff for their help & hard work in setting this course up.
Well have been trying to add my librarything as a widget with no success.

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

I have been very busy, received a transfer of a large number of books from one of our branches so have only just been able to get back to the course.

Delicious - enjoyed it & feel it will be very beneficial, tried linking it to my blog not sure if it worked. Still struggling a bit with these things, find it a bit difficult with so many interruptions.

Enjoyed the Sutherland Shire site - very interesting and a good example of the application. Got "lost" in it!!

Have skipped a little bit of the next lesson will need a bit more "thinking" time to get on to the previous bit. Love the Librarything. Except experiencing blank spots as far as my favourite authors go!!! Wish there was just a BIG list to scroll down.

Finally managed to RSS some ABC info however couldn't manage to get the PowerHouse Museum Photo of the day????? Couldn't seem to find the RSS symbol anywhere. Did send it to my Gmail account though, maybe that is where I need to send it here from??? Had a little more time today, not so stressed so was able to concentrate more which helped.
Now for something totally for ME!!!
Well here goes attempting to embed a video here, thank you for the encouragement & tips Kathleen A. It worked!!! Thanks again!!

Friday, March 7, 2008

Am feeling frustrated, irritated and extremely confused!!! Finding trying to embed a video into my blogsite so difficult. No instructions anywhere to follow (or none that I can find anyway!!) All these accounts we are having to open is also extremely confusing for me. I don't have much time available at work & what time I do have is full of interruptions which makes it hard to concentrate & understand. I guess I am also of the "old" school as far as learning is concerned & like a full set of notes with explanations of 'why" & 'how' to do things to refer to at all times in the process of learning. I agree totally with 'patiencerewarded' who asked why changes have to be so rapid. Of everything that we have learnt so far the only one I guess I have any interest in is Flickr. I have a very full life now & just want to spend more time pursuing the interests I have now. I guess I am also a very private person & find it a bit confronting being "out there".

Wikis. I have contributed in a very minor way to the one on my town, just added a word (safe) to the description of our town. Did enjoy this one. Hope everyone adds facts to their town ones. I will investigate other facts to add, eg annual rainfall & temperature range etc.

PS. Here's a photo of our towns lovely main street.

I just cannot understand RSS, nothing I do makes it work!!! Am starting to find opening all these "new" accounts very confusing. Don't like RSS one bit. Don't think I would ever have the need for it either. everything I searched for seemed to be USA based, I would prefer Australian based sites. Can I go on to the next bit???

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

Well, I love Flikr!! After a bit of hard work I managed to submit photos to the Our Town Project (even got one on here!!!)
What a great idea for a site. Hopefully many more people will submit photos of their town.

I have a great love of Photography and can spend many happy hours looking at ANYONES Snaps!! It gives you a window into the past through their eyes. Whether the photo is one hour or one hundred years old.
Hope the next "lesson" is as interesting.

Friday, February 22, 2008

Just dipped into flikr and can see great potential for it. Guess I am just extremely interested in photography, particularly liked the Our Town site. Looking forward to exploring this more.

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Have enjoyed reading other participants comments on the course. A lot to take in. Still undecided on the merits of blogging. Did enjoy the History one though and can see great benefits in using it in that manner, however just for "babbling" not so sure. I agree with one of the other bloggers that life has a lot more interesting things to offer than this!!!

Web 2.0

Head spinning a bit! Amazing! Enjoyed reading interview with Stephen Fry, a lot to think about.
Great idea to update skills in an interesting format.
